Cardborad Boat

On the very last day of the leadership challenge unit, we slit up into teams to build cardboard boats. At first the thought process for building a boat out of cardboard was hard because cardboard gets soggy when wet, so there is going to be a lot of layers. Using all the materials that they gave us to cover up all the holes so water doesn't seek through. Also to make sure it's big enough to fit too people.

 

For my boat we made a basic base that has a sharp point in the front to get through the water easily and a large box on the bottom so that the boat will float a lot better. Lastly we painted it white and red to symbolized the life guard helping us.        

  



Last Day: Paintball

On the last day of the leadership Challenge unit we went paintballing. For me since I have never been paintballing before so I had no idea what to expect but, that it hurts. Which it really did hurt more than I thought. Going paintballing is a real good team building exercise but as the guy said and I agree with him a little that we did not do a great job with making strategies but I think we did a great job communicating with each other. Also when I went paintballing it was very messy because of the dirt on the ground and the paint all over your clothes. Although paintballing is very fun for the most part expect when you get hit in the wrong places or run out ammo and people still hit you.

Day 7: Canoeing

This Tuesday we went canoeing. Canoeing is not as easy as it looks especially when you're going 6 miles far. It is very easy to get tired and want to give up quickly. also with all the water currents I kept turn around but sometimes a strong water current would help you when it's going in the same way you're going. However once you get the hang of it, it starts to become fun but still tiring. I think it was by far the most exhausting day yet.

Day 6: Camp Bernie

On the sixth day of the leadership challenge unit we went to Camp Bernie for the third time. This time we went hiking with one of the camp counselors Marcus. This time when we went hiking, we hiked up point mountain to see the beautiful view of the mountains ahead and the town below us.

After hiking we played survivor, which is like a big game of hide and seek but the seeker could not move. We played three rounds of that in which a few of my teammates and I lasted the total three rounds. 

Lastly we got to shoot arrows or archery. In which I got to see that archery was a lot harder than I thought. However overall I had a good time. 

Day 5: Grounds for sculptures

On Friday the leadership challenge unit went to Grounds for sculptures. It was really one of the best experiences I have ever seen because it's not everyday you get to see art as nice as that. I honestly enjoyed it a lot more than I thought and more than some of the physical activities. There I saw different sculptures with all different meanings and names. I also liked how some sculptures went with others. For example the sculpture I'm trying to copy in the picture, there was another sculpture in front of it of a lady painting the same sculpture and all the trees around it, I personally thought that was one of the best sculptures there because of the placement and thought that had to go in to it. 

Day 4: Camelback Mountain

Today the leadership challenge unit went to Camelback Mountain in PA. This trip was by far the longest but also the most fun and scary.  Once we got there we were handed harnesses and we learned how to clip and unclip to the different obstacles so we will be safe. First they demonstrated some of the obstacles and we went through a practice course then we were off to the real thing. The course was very difficult and scary because of the different types of obales, like the zipline which was the most fun. Varies type of moving platforms and bridges that were by far the hardest. However once you completed the course you think of how fun it was and that you'll never do this again.    

Day 3: Camp Bernie

On day 3 my unit went to Camp Bernie again. Although this time was a lot different, like on the first day, we had to find different slips of paper by using GPS trackers which made it a lot easier. each slip of paper had a fact about a different country and at the end we had to use the facts to answer questions.
After we completed that challenge we went over to the vertical playpen.        

The vertical playpen got hard as u progressed through it the cargo net at the bottom was the easiest, then the spaced out planks of wood got father in distance from each other which made it a stuggle for everyone and lastly there was a choice between the three ways to get to the top. The tires on the right, catipiler in the middle and the rope which little planks of wood on the left. 

Lastly, my unit group went rock climbing which wasn't as hard as the vertical playpen but still had its on difficulties. Like trying to find the right rock or not slipping which I did a few times. However overall I think this was the most fun trip yet.
